In 2019 a few colleagues and I set up a service to seek to help individuals develop their careers and organisations transform their service delivery. I wanted us to do this in an evidence-based way and for me “evidence-based” included data, academic learning and professional experience. I have long been a believer that the more you practice the skills and service needed, and build experience and knowledge, the more successful you are likely to be.

The key for me was simple – Practice, Learn, Succeed.

Practice skills and services in a mock or real environment.

Learn by reflecting and considering what can be done better.

Succeed by doing things better.

Vital to me was doing this in an outcome-focused, values-led way, and Practice to Progress (P2P) was born.

Initially we delivered these services in the public sector. However, as we built our incredibly talented and diverse team we branched out, supporting the private sector, charities and NGOs. In doing so our diversity proved to be a huge strength. We knew through our experience, backed up by review and data, that the more diverse the team, the greater the chance of success. Diversity to us doesn’t just mean people with protected characteristics but the greatest breadth and depth of knowledge, experience, expertise, background and culture.

To date we have helped 50+ organisations across the UK and over 6000 individuals. We have worked globally as far west as the US and Bermuda and as far east as Mongolia and Vietnam.
