Police Staff Promotion

Invest in your Future

If you are preparing to take the next step in your policing career, the promotion process can be an intimidating experience for even the most confident police staff member.

Each police staff force promotion process will be slightly different, but typically include:

We work with officers from many forces, to replicate the process of your local force, and to keep it as close to the real thing as possible.

We can support all levels of promotion whether you are taking your first step into line management or going for senior leadership role.

However, to get the interview stage you first need to pass the paper sift which means your application form needs to be strong, with compelling evidence and examples to stand out from the rest.

Police Staff Promotion Practice Sessions

Once you know you have got an interview and what the process is, we can put you through your paces with you with ‘mock’, real-time interviews, presentations and other exercises with our team of experienced police and non-service associates using the Competency Values Framework (CVF)

One-to-One Sessions

  • Just you and one associate
  • Detailed briefing about the exercise
  • Practice under ‘timed exam like’ conditions
  • Get detailed feedback from the associate

You will go into your promotion board with the added confidence of knowing what to expect and exactly what areas you need to improve on to succeed:

  • Find out what to expect on the day
  • Experience the types of questions you will be asked
  • Practice and make mistakes before the real thing
  • Find out what you need to do better if you want to pass

Additional Services

P2P offers many different services to support your promotion and progression, too many to be listed here.

Why P2P

Practice to Progress is a service delivered entirely by successful former senior police officers and staff and non-service associates (community representatives).

The P2P associate team has first-hand experience of passing promotion boards themselves as well as sitting on the other side of the table to assess others at local and national levels.

You will benefit from their detailed constructive feedback on how you performed in your mock board interview or presentation including which areas you may need to improve on.

Practice to Progress is based on the concept that there is no substitute for experience.
