The national Fast Track Programme is for serving police Inspectors who want to achieve the rank of Superintendent. Each force is responsible for selecting candidates to send for national assessment at the College of Policing and attend the Fast Track National Assessment Centre.

P2P offers a step-by-step package of support to give you the best chance possible of passing the Fast Track process including 1:1 practice sessions which replicate the exercises you will face at the assessment centre.

Fast Track Practice Sessions

Practice to Progress replicates five of the exercises you need to pass at the Fast Track National Assessment Centre under timed assessment conditions. Sessions are carried out online with our experienced team of associates and cover the areas listed below (click to read details).

Candidates can choose to practice just one, a combination of a few, or all of the assessment centre exercises via our online portal.

Interview
  • You will be interviewed by your associate(s)
  • You will be asked four questions focussed on two competency areas 
  • You will receive comprehensive feedback from your associate regarding your performance, identifying your strengths and areas for improvement 
  • Receive a recording of the exercise within 24 hours
  • Total time of session – approx. 50 minutes
Oral Briefing
  • A one-to-one session with an experienced associate
  • You will be given information about a fictional scenario in order to deliver a briefing
  • You will be asked to give a briefing to your associate(s) on how you intend to address the issues contained in the scenario
  • You will then be asked questions about your briefing by your associate
  • You will receive comprehensive feedback from your associate regarding your performance, identifying your strengths and areas for improvement
  • Receive a recording of the exercise within 24 hours
  • Approximate duration – 80 minutes
Partnership exercise
  • You will be given information about a fictional scenario and asked to hold a meeting with one individual to address the issues presented
  • Before the meeting, you will time to read through candidate materials and prepare for the meeting (around 25 minutes)
  • You will meet a trained role actor who will take the role of a character within the scenario and have a meeting to resolve the issues identified
  • You will receive comprehensive feedback from your associate regarding your performance, identifying your strengths and areas for improvement
  • Receive a recording of the exercise within 24 hours
  • Approximate duration – 70 minutes
Values exercise
  • You will be provided with information about a fictional scenario will have time in which to read through the materials and prepare for a briefing
  • You will then be asked to give a briefing to the associate on your views, plan of action and rationale
  • You will then be questioned by the associate further about your actions and rationale
  • You will receive comprehensive feedback from your associate regarding your performance, identifying your strengths and areas for improvement
  • Receive a recording of the exercise within 24 hours
  • Approximate duration – 75 minutes
Written In-Tray
  • You will be provided with a set of documents which you are required to work through in order to complete a number of tasks and type a series of written responses
  • You will receive comprehensive feedback from your associate regarding your performance, identifying your strengths and areas for improvement
  • Approximate duration – 75 minutes
