Our associates are drawn from policing and organisations that work with the police. All are very experienced in their given field and as associates, carrying out assessing as part of their role. They are selected by Practice To Progress to ensure that every candidate will gain the very best feedback and understanding of their performance in the context of the role they are applying for. If you visit our Team page, you can learn about every associate, coach and facilitator
Great care is taken by our content writers to ensure that our materials are up to date and do match police assessments and interviews. Our content focuses on the Competencies and Values Framework that underpins policing in the UK. Whilst the questions and scenarios will always be different to the exact questions what is being tested remains the same.
You will gain the experience of practicing the process you are about to undertake. Whilst also receiving detailed feedback on your performance. This with a recording of your performance allows you to then reflect on how you can improve your performance ready for your interview or assessment.
There is no guarantee of success in any process. However if you use your feedback to reflect on what improvements you need to make, you will be in a stronger position to be the best you can be during your interview or assessment.
For individuals, at this time, yes. However, we offer the opportunity to forces to shape their own bespoke package. If you check out the testimonials scattered throughout the site, you will see that this model works well for practice and preparation.
We set out to make Practice To Progress as user friendly as possible. By delivering this online the candidate can chose the time and place that they want to undertake their interview or assessment. This is particularly important for those who have responsibilities for the care of others and would struggle to spend time travelling to another location. It also means that candidates costs are kept to a minimum.
We take both security and confidentiality very seriously at P2P.
The Competency and Values Framework (CVF) aims to support all policing professionals, now and into the future. It sets out nationally recognised behaviours and values, which will provide a consistent foundation for a range of local and national processes. This framework will ensure that there are clear expectations of everyone working in policing which in turn will lead to standards being raised for the benefit and safety of the public.
Each competency includes a description and a list of behaviours which indicate that a person is displaying that particular competence. Each competency is split into three levels which are intended to be used flexibly to allow for a better fit with frontline and non-frontline policing roles rather than ranks or work levels. The levels are designed to be cumulative, so those working at higher levels should also demonstrate each preceding level’s behaviours. The competency levels can broadly be matched to work levels as:
A number of national role profiles show how the competency levels align to common roles within policing. These can be used as a basis for developing further role profiles within each local police force. The following sections of this document explain each value and competency and show the behaviours for each.
While we firmly believe one-to-one practice is key to success, we understand that not everyone has the time and resources to do this at all stages of their careers. Our online courses supplement one-to-one practice with self-paced structured learning and practice scenarios.
If you have purchased a course and haven’t received a registration email, please contact us using the form below or via email at info@practicetoprogress.com.
If you have an account, you can login using the “course login” link in the menu at the top of the page. If you see “profile” instead of “course login”, that means you are already logged in.
A more detailed guide to our platform can be read here.
Most of our courses are self-paced and designed to elicit thought and practice, not for us to read and review your answers to questions. If you purchase one-on-one mentoring or coaching, you can use this time to review your course progress if you agree with your coach or mentor that this is a productive exercise.
We recommend a computer no less than four years old, with a webcam and audio/video capabilities. It is possible to attend some sessions from an iPad if you install the Teams app.
You will need an email address for session information and preparatory work to be sent to you, and for your video recording to be delivered.
Our sessions are delivered via Microsoft Teams.
You can download Teams on most platforms, but you need to create a free account at the email address you used to register a session.
If you attended a session that has a recording, a secure link will be mailed to you within one working day.
To access the recording, you will need to verify your email address with a one-time code.
Once you pass the verification, you will have access to download or stream the video online for 14 days from the session date.
For security and privacy reasons, we delete all recordings, so we advise you to download your recording if you require it longer than this.
The quickest way to contact us is to email support@practicetoprogress.com or fill in the support form below.
