I spent 31 years in policing having been recruited through a two-day assessment centre in 1985 with West Mercia Police.
Throughout my service, I have been involved in assessing, mentoring and coaching across the police family from potential recruits to senior officers and police staff members.
My most rewarding experiences in policing have been supporting and seeing the next generation of leaders develop. I have a particular passion for those from minority groups. I am an Associate of the College of Policing assessing against the CVF; a mentor with Aston University assisting last year graduates transition to the world of work; and supervisor for the University of Cambridge Police Executive Masters Programme rooted in evidence-based policing.
My desire to be involved in Practice to Progress is fundamentally about helping and supporting whoever wishes to avail themselves of what I consider to be a ground-breaking approach, enabling anyone, not just the “chosen few” to benefit.
