Peter Terry

I served as a police officer for nearly 34 years retiring after 7 years as a chief officer across two forces.

I spent the majority of my career as a uniform officer working across boroughs in London. For the last nine years I specialised in Public Order, Event Management (including Royal Ceremonials and major sporting issues) Major City Security & Resilience and developing multi-agency response to major emergencies.

I had, and have, a continuing interest in the improvement and development of policing services and those that have chosen to serve within them, in whatever role. I assessed at all levels of the police service from recruit selection through to the Senior Assessment Center to select the next executive level officer. I also had the privilege of working as a Syndicate Director on the Senior Command Course.

Since retiring I am proud to have been able to continue working in the area of police development. I have worked with P2P for nearly four years in helping people prepare for the next step in their careers, wether that be as recruits or the more senior levels of service. For a while I continued to work with College of Policing as an associate across a broad spectrum of processes. I have worked with private companies to develop training products using virtual reality and artificial intelligence platforms.

On a broader perspective I have worked with a local authority to help the redesign their community safety portfolio. I have also had the privilege of working with overseas police services in the area of public order and event management.

Why do I work with P2P? The answer to that is simple. They share my public service values and ethos and my passion to develop world class policing services.
