I retired in November 2020 as a Superintendent having served 30 years with West Yorkshire Police. During my career I have worked in a number of areas including Roads Policing, Proactive Policing, and commanding firearms operations although always found myself returning to Neighbourhood Policing and Partnership Working which is where my passion lies. I also lived and worked in London for 18 months working for the Home Office on a project to improve Police recording and response to calls for service. I have thoroughly enjoyed my service, believe I have made a difference and would do it all again!
I hold a Masters degree in Business Administration and my dissertation was around the recruitment and retention of ethnic minority officers in to policing, exploring barriers and how the service could improve. I was chair of our local British Association of Women in Policing network where our membership explored issues affecting women at work and how they could be overcome. Throughout my career I have enjoyed coaching and mentoring and have recently submitted work to achieve a certificate from the Chartered Management Institute where I am a Chartered Fellow.
I am delighted to be involved in Practice to Progress as I believe that everyone should be able to access support and advice to develop, build confidence and flourish.
