Today, (28/7) founder of Practice to Progress Alan Baldwin was honoured to attend the unveiling of the new UK Police Memorial to honour those fallen police officers and staff who died in the line of duty.
The 12-metre brass memorial was unveiled by Prince Charles at a special ceremony, which took place at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, and Alan was there to represent Practice to Progress as one of the donor organisations.
On attending the event Alan commented: “When you join the police you become part of the policing family, and every time a colleague loses their life, it is felt across the whole police community. As a team made up of so many former police officers and staff, it was important to all of us that P2P contributed towards the fundraising target for the memorial.
“As a police office you never know what each job is going to bring, that’s one of things that makes the job so exciting and rewarding but it’s also what makes the job a risk. Everyday officers and staff put themselves in dangerous situations to protect the public and it’s not being dramatic to say that every time they do that they are putting their lives on the line.
“It’s only right that the bravery of those who have lost their lives protecting others is commemorated, recognised and never forgotten. This memorial will serve as a physical reminder to us all of the dedication and sacrifice police officers and staff make to keep us safe.”
