Chris Davies

Until April 2022, I was Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of Mid & West Wales with a fire service career of 37 years, including 8 years as Chief Fire Officer. I have proven leadership and relationship building skills.

During my time as CFO, I developed significant experience as a Gold Commander, managing a number of high-profile major incidents, both from a fire and rescue perspective and also a political perspective.

I have experience in a variety of roles within the fire sector. This includes being seconded to the Fire Service College within the Command and Management Faculty, where I gained considerable experience in training and people development.   

In the 2017 New Year’s Honours, I was awarded the Queen’s Fire Service Medal (QFSM) for distinguished service.

Living on the Gower, in Wales. I enjoy paddle boarding and walking my 3-year-old black Labrador with my partner, Ceri.

Being part of the Practice to Progress FIRE initiative will enable me to continue to invest in coaching and mentoring people, and what’s more, P2P will create a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to progress and practice for promotion in a safe environment.
